CEO and founder, a commerce-intelligence company

Prices stopped being national.

Retail margin is decided in the gap between your price and the one a shopper sees two clicks away — at the store down the road, on the marketplace, in the loyalty app. Import.io captures that gap across every competitor, location and channel, matched to your products, fresh enough to act on the same day.

The price a shopper sees now depends on their postcode, their store, their loyalty status and the channel they opened. National averages hide exactly the moves that cost you: the competitor who undercuts on forty key value items in three cities, the rollback that lasts a weekend, the multibuy that only works for members.

The hard part isn’t collecting prices. It is capturing them as each shopper sees them, matching them to your products — including private label, which has no shared barcode — and delivering them while the decision can still be made. That is what we build.

The hard parts, handled.

What breaks when this is done with scripts, and how Import.io handles it.

01

Location-true prices

Store and postcode are set the way a shopper sets them, and captured from in-region egress, so the price is the one people in that place actually see.

02

Promotions, normalised

Multibuys, loyalty prices and coupons are classified and converted to an effective unit price, so a 3-for-2 and a 33% discount compare fairly.

03

Private label, matched

Exact matches by GTIN and model first; private label and substitutes by attributes, text and image, each with a confidence score and review queue.

04

Retail-grade anti-bot

Rendering, fingerprints and challenges on the largest retailers are handled inside the platform, and blocked requests are not billed.

Retail & Ecommerce questions.

Straight answers.

How often can competitor prices be refreshed?

Hourly for key value items and fast-moving categories, daily for the long tail. Cadence is set per category and source, so budget goes where prices move.

Can you capture store- and zip-level prices?

Yes. Store or postcode is set per request the way a shopper sets it, and requests come from inside the market, so each price is tied to the location that sees it.

How do you match private-label products?

Exact matches use GTIN and model number. Private label and substitutes are matched on attributes, text and images, with a confidence score and a review queue for low-confidence pairs.

Can the data feed our repricing engine?

Yes. Managed feeds deliver to your warehouse, S3 or API on your schedule, with a manifest on every delivery, so a repricing engine can consume them directly.

How quickly can we start?

Aperture and managed programs typically deliver their first production data in two to three weeks. The self-service platform starts today with a free 30-day trial.

Can AI agents use retail and ecommerce data?

Yes. The Web Scraper MCP and API expose extraction and monitoring as structured tools, with rendering, anti-bot and egress handled by Import.io.

How is retail and ecommerce data delivered?

As managed feeds to S3, SFTP, API or webhook in CSV, JSON or Parquet; through Aperture dashboards and alerts; or on demand through the API and MCP.
