Roadless encourages you to travel differently
There is so much that can be done by augmenting data that is found on the web today. Presenting existing data in a new format, enriched with content from multiple other sources, can itself become a business.
If you’re using import•io, you don’t need a huge amount of coding knowledge to get data from the web and feed it into your app or website. And, since using our tool is free, it’s a pretty cost effective way to aggregate and normalise a huge amount of data very quickly!
Let’s take a look at one startup that is making use of our technology to build a really great service.
The Road to Data
Roadless.co describe themselves as:
“a site to help inspire travellers with beautiful photos and unique experiences – stuff you might not find in your average guide book”
To create this their search algorithms relied on having as much compelling content as possible. That’s where import•io comes in!
Using our tools, Roadless built Crawlers to extract snippets of text and images from numerous well regarded travel blogs including Spotted by Locals, Stay.com, Eater, Thrillist, 7×7, Not for Tourists, Food GPS, LAish, SFist, Shanghaiist, Chicagoist and many more. Using this method they’ve been able to expose destinations and attractions from hundreds of thousands of posts that are beautiful and generally off the beaten path.
And Roadless always make sure to give credit where its due:
“All post snippets link back to the original creator and constantly looking out for new blogs to feature”
If you’re interested in planning a trip or just seeing what’s out there, you can sign up for their site or follow them on Twitter.
