Nick Scott, Head of User Success
On Tuesday at TechHub we were part of a packed room of over 100 app developers for their event on how to Build, Fund, Populate and Monetise your App.
The first speaker was Connor Treacy from Facebook, talking about Mobile App discovery. Hearing their tips on getting your app seen by the right people, and how to engage users was pretty interesting. The sheer scale of Facebook’s reach is impressive when you see it spelled out: 263 million referrals to App Store and Google Play in the last month!
Next, our very own Head of User Success, Nick Scott talked about getting data into your app and demonstrated how our tools help developers use content from the web in their apps. We got lots of great feedback from people who were really interested in the opportunities this would open up in allowing small teams to build apps with some great data.

Andy Young, Senior Business Analyst with Stripe
Andy Young from Stripe was next, with tips for monetising apps. Andy raised interesting points on the topics of – what to charge for your app, how to charge, and gave us some great examples of tactics that work for others.
Then Ross Murray-Jones from YPlan told us their story, how they had grown from a small team at TechHub to over 40 employees and how they now estimate they are on 10% of phones in London. Ross also gave some great tips on how to approach fundraising.
Last, but certainly not least, Frederic Lardieg from Octopus Ventures gave us an insight into why investors are so excited about mobile, and some of the possibilities that exist in the mobile space.
