Mix of the Week: Bartendr.me
Shaken not Stirred
Ok you got me, so this one isn’t technically a mix but it’s too cool not to share. This past weekend we sponsored the LaunchHack hackathon in San Francisco. One of the most fun web apps to come out of the hackathon was from Yaron, Nat and Fab who realized that unless your Tom Cruise in Cocktail you really don’t have time to go around memorizing all those drink recipes.
In just two days using import·io they created bartendr.me. Simply type in the name of the drink you want to make and Bartendr shows you all the ingredients along with the instructions on how to make it! If you’re not sure what to make, put in an ingredient and the Bartendr will randomly suggest a drink for you which includes that ingredient. You can even purchase the ingredients by clicking on them.
“Import was great as it helped us focus our energy on building the product and not on getting the data. It took us a few minutes of set up and an hour later we had an abundance of data!”
Cocktails as an API
Not only did their team create a super awesome app, but you can also access the API for each cocktail.
Want to build your own? Follow this tutorial for step by step instructions on how to build a Mix.
Each week we will feature a “Mix of the Week” to show off all the cool things that can be done with data. If you have a Mix you’d like to submit email us the link along with the story of why you built it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
