Import•io is happy to announce its participation in Startup Weekend, which will take place in six cities around the UK on November 9th – 11th. From the 29th of October import•io will lead workshops around the selected cities, giving the audience innovative examples of the use of datasets from data.gov.uk and many others, as well as discussing how best to uncover and access data. Import•io is working with Entrepreneur First, The Open Knowledge Foundation, data.gov.uk, and Startup Weekend themselves.
The workshops will take place in London, Manchester, Cambridge, Southampton, Oxford, and Sheffield, where the Startup Weekends will be located as well. During that weekend representatives of import•io will be in each location, helping people with data, signing them up for the beta of the technology and giving answers to all of their data questions.
Startup Weekends are 54-hour events, where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas from teams, build products and launch startups. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday the 9th, attendees will bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday the 10th and Sunday 11th teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
There are many good reasons to attend the event – the opportunity to learn through the act of creating a business, building a network, and finding someone to actually launch a startup with. During this event attendees get the opportunity to spend time with thought leaders in the industry, be a part of a global community in their field of interest, and post-weekend may launch the business.
