In 2017 Import.io moved headquarters to Silicon Valley, attracted top talent, delivered over 100 new product features, and more than doubled revenue

2017 was a pivotal year for Import.io with growth in all areas including employees, revenue, and customers. The product evolved into a critical element of any enterprise data strategy with 100s of new features to facilitate data mining, transformation, storage and insights—all with the industry leading ease of use combined with unmatched scalability and data quality.
New product features introduced in 2017 include:
- Change, comparison, data reporting
- Portal for sharing data and reports
- Image and file downloads
- Record and playback of website interaction, such as form fills or drop-down choices
- Screen capture of web pages
- URL generation and URL discovery capabilities
In addition to the product enhancements, the employee base grew with the addition of many strong California based engineers as well as growth in sales, marketing, and leadership roles. Originally founded in London, Import.io officially moved its headquarters to the center of web-based activity in Silicon Valley.
In 2017, Import.io revenue more than doubled as the number of customers also doubled. Enterprises are using Import.io for all sorts of purposes including monitoring competitors, tracking customer sentiment and product rankings, and using alternative data to determine financial investments and acquisitions, to name a few. These new customers join longtime customers including larger enterprises and companies of all sizes realizing the value of web data in all aspects of their businesses, such as Clearmetal.
“At ClearMetal we’re using Import.io to pull container movement data from ocean carrier websites, freight forwarder websites, and 3PL websites. This is very valuable information to our customers. It allows us to keep a recorded history of how things are moving throughout the world, so we can create awesome predictive technologies on top of this data,” said Kyle Henderson, Director of Product Management at ClearMetal.
In Q4 of 2017, the Import.io leadership team was solidified with the addition of Sunil Ramesh as the VP Products, joining from Amazon A9 and bringing 16 years of leading Silicon Valley engineering and product teams. Sunil rounded out a strong and diverse team led by CEO Gary Read who has led two Silicon Valley companies to successful acquisitions and was an executive at another company that undertook a successful IPO.
