It’s been an exciting couple of months here at import.io. In February, we added a shiny new member to the team, my baby daughter Grace! Yet another start-up project I can add to my portfolio. Alongside import.io and my ongoing role at Kusiri, 3 start-ups should keep me busy! Whilst I was experiencing my first taste of fatherhood, the rest of the management team were out in Santa Clara, CA. taking on the American start-up scene at Strata, with great results, see our Strata post here.
Finally, in early March we annouced a funding round during which we brought some amazing investors into the import.io fold. With the help of Louis Monier, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Alta Vista – Louis is one of the founding fathers of search, Emmanuel Javal, a highly respected, long-time French technology investor together with Wellington Partners, one of the most successful pan-European venture capital firms, we completed a £600,000 seed round.
Our ultimate goal is to change the way people get data from the web, and the support of investors like Louis and Emmanuel, as well as Venture Capital firms like Wellington, is essential in allowing us to pursue that goal. This funding and support enables us to continue to develop our product and bring new features to the market – ie you.
“Big Data is a powerful trend that if properly harnessed has the potential to create numerous useful applications for both businesses and consumers.” – Eric Archambeau, General Partner at Wellington Partners.
We strongly believe in this sentiment, and we want to make the power of data more accessible. We are trying to do something quite unusual here at import.io, by turning gathering data from a laborious and, let’s face it, often painful process; into one that is simple and easy – and maybe just a little bit fun!
To round off a quote from Louis Monier
“Their technology is set to revolutionise data collection for companies of all sizes.”
