Andrew Fogg giving a demo at Internet World
This past week was Big Data Week here in London. The import.io team was kept busy going to all the subsequent events and we got a lot of really great feedback! Here is a short recap of our week:
From Tuesday – Thursday we were at the Big Data Show at Earl’s Court with our very own booth demoing to anyone who would stop by. We met over 200 people who were interested in extracting data from the web! It was exhausting, but it was great to connect with potential users and find out how we can improve our builder.
On Thursday we also had a table at the Putting Data to Work seminar at Imperial College London.

Friday, we were invited to the InnoTech Summit in Canary Wharf. The view from L39 was amazing – as was the Borris cake! There were speeches and presentations from some of the leading minds in the London tech startup scene including Rohan Silva, senior policy advisor to the Prime Minister; Edmund Truell, Chairman of Disruptive Capital and Marcus Stuttard, Head of AIM at the London Stock Exchange.
Our CEO David White participated in two panel discussions throughout the day. The first was on how the government can improve the atmosphere in London to help tech startups be more successful. The other one was a panel of specially chosen Game-changers in big data, during which the panel discussed what a big data driven world will mean.

The week ended with a very entertaining talk by Mayor of London Borris Johnson! He spoke about his commitment to building up the tech industry in London and participated in a Google hang-out with people in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, NYC and LA.
